London Olympics 27th July 2012

Gráinne attended numerous auditions in the infamous ‘3 Mills Studio’ in London in late 2011. She was called back on each occasion for further audition, and it was in January 2012 that she realised her dream as a drummer on the big stage - the big stage of the World Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in fact!

Rehearsals began in May 2012 and moved to the old Ford factory in Dagenham in June 2012. The rehearsals were highly demanding, with Gráinne often putting in 14 hour days. But every second was worth it.

On July 27th 2012, the Opening Ceremony was live to world from Stratford stadium. Gráinnes first post on the night was a ‘Pandemonium’ Drummer line leader (depicting the Industrial Revolution in Britain) and later, she was one of the selected Athlete Drum Marshalls, leading the various Countries onto the pitch.
